AND THE WINNER IS...
We received over 100 entries for the "I need a name contest"
to help name the newest dog to join the team in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
There were lots of suggestions for "Sniffer",
"Sweeper" "Miner" and "Finder" !
All great names! Our selection committee wanted to give our newest hero
an original, meaningful, and usable name, so the winner is PAX.
An entry from Ally from Ontario (pictured at left with her best friend!), Pax is Latin for peace. Ally chose the heated dog bed donated by Can-Am Marketing as her prize.
Runner's up were: "Salvador" (meaning saviour
in Spanish), an online entry
from Ruby Telehus from Walkerton, Ontario. Ruby's miniature Schnauzer
Leia has been sent a travel dog kit compliments of My Pet Boutique Inc.
Our other runner up is "McGyver", the entry
of Frankie Rich of Toronto (pictured below). Frankie's dog Max-a-million
Pompadou (a full-frown 11 year-old pomeranian born in South Africa)
will get the spa treatment thanks to the wonderful dog spa kit donated
by Petiquette.
Our final runner up is Catharine from Happy Hounds
Doggy Daycare of Toronto. Catharine suggested the name Phoenix after
a dog she used to have who truly had a gift for snooping things out.
The name "Phoenix" is also known for its healing powers. Catharine
was sent a "No More Landmines" t-shirt, compliments of the
Canadian Landmine Foundation. (More info on these t-shirts and t-shirt
purchasing - and a photo of Paul McCartney wearing one! - can be found
at www.canadianlandmine.org).
