Dogs and their human partners are successful deminers because:
  • Mine Detection Dogs are trained to recognize the smell of landmines and their explosive contents
  • Mine Detection Dogs detect nonmetallic or plastic encased mines
  • Mine Detection Dogs detect mines in areas where the soil has high metal content and where metal detectors are less effective or deficient
  • Mine Detection Dogs can work in areas inaccessible to heavy machinery
  • Mine Detection Dogs save lives.
