Each year the Canadian Landmine Foundation has honoured a police peacekeeper
nominated by the RCMP.
In 2008 we honoured the RCMP's International Peace Operations Branch,
which deploys Canadian police personnel to countries around the world
that have experienced conflict or are threatened by it.
Over the past two decades, close to 2,500 Canadian police officers
have served on more than 35 missions around the world.
A minefield was cleared in Afghanistan in their honour.
